Most Affordable Twin Cylinder Motorcycles in India 2020

It makes little sense to put money on single-cylinder motorcycles when the Indian two-wheeler industry offers several affordable twin-cylinder motorcycles

In a recent article, we listed some of the best affordable inline four-cylinder motorcycles that one can purchase in India. However, the budget for the inline segment is significant with motorcycles beginning at around INR 6 or 7 lakh. For many, that may not be a preference. Hence, let’s advance onto the next best thing; twin-cylinder motorcycles.

Indeed, twin cylinders are far from inline four-cylinder motorcycles, but they are stronger than single-cylinder motorcycles. They are sophisticated with better exhaust note and display superior performance compared to single-cylinder motorcycles. In this article, we have composed a list of best affordable twin-cylinder motorcycles that are largely in the entry-level zone.

Kawasaki Ninja 400

The Kawasaki Ninja 400 falls in the 300-400cc segment, equipped with a 399cc DOHC, parallel-twin, 8-valves engine that can generate 48hp of power and 38Nm of torque. At INR 4.99 lakh, the Ninja 400 is one of the best fully-faired sports motorcycles one can buy in India.

Kawasaki Ninja 300

The 400’s younger sibling is the Ninja 300, which also runs on a twin-cylinder motorcycle and develops quite a power of 38hp and 27Nm of torque. At INR 3.1 lakh, the engine may not be massive, but the power figure is significant that is enough to do long highways runs at triple-digit speed without breaking a sweat.

Yamaha R3

The R3 runs on a 321cc twin-cylinder engine that generates 40.8hp of power and a peak torque of 29.6Nm. Indeed, it doesn’t offer an enormous engine but compare the power figure to the Ninja 400 and the difference in horsepower is only 7hp. It’s on the costlier side with a price-tag of INR 3.51 lakh but Yamaha has not compromised on the performance, features and build quality of this fully-faired sports motorcycle.

Benelli Leoncino 500

The Leoncino 500 at INR 4.79 lakh boast of a massive 500cc engine that can generate 46.8hp of power. Compared to the Ninja 400 and R3, the power delivery is less. However, it’s a scrambler and not a sports motorcycle because of which the power delivery has been wisely tweaked to create a lenient ride.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

The only reason the Interceptor made to this list is for its enormous 650cc engine. Also, this is the only reason one should buy this motorcycle. In terms of performance, it generates 47hp of power, which is lesser than the Ninja 400. At INR 3.12 lakh, it’s a good deal for those who only care about big engines.
